Book Review: Let Her Go – Briana Pacheco

Synopsis

Zoë Whitmore is in love with her best friend, but haunting memories and a guilty conscious have been holding her back from letting her be with him.

Owen Stevenson is unknowingly paying for the sins of his father. He doesn’t understand why Zoë can’t look at him for more than a few seconds or why his touch is unsettling at times. All he’s ever wanted was to love her, to protect her, and to be hers, but it’s not so easy.

She pushes, he pulls.
She hurts, he loves.

Both are holding onto ghosts of their pasts and in order for them to peruse a relationship they’ll have to let them go.

WARNING: This is a darkish New Adult friends-to-lovers romance kind of book. Due to heavy subject matter, strong language, possible triggers of child sexual abuse, and some sexual situations this book is recommended for ages 18+

My Thoughts

`Let Her Go` is a keeper! It´s an unforgettable story that will make a reader ugly cry but also guarantees happy tears.

It´s been a while since I´ve held an emotional book in my hands. If I had known just how emotional this book was going to be I´d have bought a box of tissues. Instead, I had to use the arm of my longsleeve while reading Briana Pacheco´s standalone, `Let Her Go`.let her go

`Let Her Go` is a romance that tackles a highly sensitive topic- Child Abuse – and the author tackled that subject with grace and bravery.

Told in a first person narrative with dual POV´s ( his & hers) this book will tear you to bits because you get to see both sides from the main characters. The „Why I´m doing this.“ and the „Why is she acting like this.“ Which is great because you have the pleasure of suffering twice instead of once. As if suffering once wasn´t enough * snorts *.

Briana Pacheco goes out of her way and makes her reader´s heart break and then she forces the broken pieces together again.

That´s basically what happened to me. I was shocked, stunned and in pain for the characters. I suffered for Zoe and suffered with Owen. And as I got further into the story my feelings intensified for everyone.

Zoe, despite her past, is a wonderful Heroine. Very loveable, down to earth and strong. She´s one of those female leads I´d be best friends with in real life.

Owen, on the other hand…. He´s the definition of perfection. The Hero every romance lover craves for. Smart, good looking, considerate, understanding and determined to keep the one person who means everything to him in his life- Zoe.

“I make her fly while she makes me feel like I´m free falling.”

Both love fiercely. Both want each other deeply. But will the truth, a truth that has already paved a different road for the couple, end everything or will it bring Zoe and Owen closer together?

If you think you have the answer to that question- Think again. The end is not entirely what you would think it is. There´s a nice twist- A show of self-action. I thought it was great!

All in all I can thank the author for giving me a mighty fine book hangover because I haven´t had one in ages. From now on, I will buy a box of Kleenex before purchasing future books from Briana Pacheco.

Would I recommend this book? I most certainly would. Briana Pacheco´s words are captivating. Her characters feel real. Her stories are… so touching.

Would I re-read this book? Yes. I would.

The Cover – 5 stars ( Love.)

The Story – 4 stars ( Although I thought the story itself was worth 5 stars I still feel slightly uneasy about the child abuse topic. Maybe it´s because I have children myself and therefore fear more. It´s a topic that makes my stomach turn. Still, the author did a wonderful job in balancing the details on the event. )

The Characters 5 stars ( I´ve got a whole lot of love for these fictional figures. Including Echo and Freddie!)

My emotional state after finishing this read – Spent. Very satisfied. In love.

I´m giving ` Let Her Go` by author Briana Pacheco 4 out of 5 stars.

Happy Monday! 🍂🍁 And Happy belated New Release for @brianapacheco1 new novel 'Let Her Go' . 😍 The wait was long and so worth it. 💚💚 . Tagged by the lovely Sabrina and Ashley from @5171milesbooks… here's my #winteriscoming by @maddisonwonderland *getting into my GoT mindset* *mentally preparing for my apocalyptic repsonses* . 🌨Jamie Lannister ( a character you used to hate but now love): I always liked Jamie and I do tend to enjoy characters similar to his. e.g. Tony Rawlings from Consequences. . 🌨Tyrion Lannister ( a character you'd get drunk with ): None. Most characters aren't stable enough to drink.😂 And I'm not a psychiatrist when I drink…so… . 🌨Cersei Lannister ( the baddest bitch in town): There is NO character than can reach her bad bitch level. She evil. . 🌨Theon Greyjoy (a character who always suffers): You kidding me? Someone name me a character that has ever suffered worse than Theon has because I cant. Poor bastard. . 🌨Ned Stark ( a character who died too soon): Sean from Carnage . 🌨Sansa Stark ( an annoying character): Sansa isn't annoying. Not everyone can be Arya *eye roll* But I have a long list of annoying characters. Let me roll it out and start a new post just for that😂 . 🌨Jon Snow ( a character you'd spend the night with): does this mean just a dinner and sleepover or actually ending up having sex? Because both lists are a mile long too.😂😂😂😂 And no. I wouldn't want to sleep with Jon Snow. Not my type. I prefer my men to KNOW something instead of NOTHING. *falls off chair, cracking up* Have a great day! 😍😍😍😍
