Instagram Feature: Morgana´s Book Box

So, it´s been a little over a year since I started my Instagram project- Morgana´s Book Box.

During my Insta – year I´ve learned many things about Instagram.

  1. The algorithm is the cause of all evil
  2. Bookstagramming ( Book + Instagram = Bookstagram, Book blogger on Instagram = Bookstagrammer ) is tough

A year ago I had a mission to grace the pic – world with my idea of book promotion.

And in that year I´ve seen alot, met many wonderful people and… well, I´ve basically seen pics. Wonderful pictures, crappy pictures… Pictures that made my nose wrinkle and pictures that had me rolling on the floor, laughing.

Instagram is a fun place to hang out.

My grande plan to make the book world a prettier place slowly died down around September ´17. The idea to present a new kind of book promotion became harder and harder with each week. I gained followers but it seemed like those numbers weren´t really that interested in my content. Or they were but the algorithm made it hard for them to see my features. Either way, it sucked.

Don´t get me wrong- I had ideas. I still have them. It´s just that book blogging doesn´t seem to function over on Instagram. Fun bookish stuff? Absolutely. But actual book blogging? Not so much.

I had a slight feeling that my book box idea was getting old.

As much as I wanted to, I couldn´t stick to one theme. It was time to expand my horizon.

Try out new ways to promote books. Because, that´s what I do, right? I book blog.

Besides, I´m pretty sure no one is interested in the bomb that went off in my kitchen or the unmade bed in my bedroom.

So, here are my new book features, sans book box.

  1. Inside a book. I like open book pictures. They look cool no matter what book you use. A huge plus point is the little snippet you give from a featured book.

Hey Bookstagrammers! 🤓how's it going? Have you ever been inspired by a book so much that you felt the need for a tattoo? My inspirational moment came after reading The Book Of Life by @debharkness. Or should I say- I've always had the idea but needed that special spark to seal the deal. I wanted my star sign but Aquarius doesn't have alot of nice symbols. And I wanted something small. Since Aquarius is an air sign- and the alchemical symbol for air looks simple and plain and not obvious or pushy… Voila! Thanks to Diana Bishop for that last push! 😉📖🖤 . . . . . #bookstagram #deborahharkness #thebookoflife #adiscoveryofwitches #dianabishop #witches #tattoo #alchemytattoo #symbol #starsign #aquarius #read #books #ilovebooks #inspriation #bookphotography #libraryofinstagram #bibliophile #zodiac #air #paperback #bookworm #booklover #booksbooksbooks #bookblogger #booksgalore

2. Indoor Book Box. I´m an outdoor person. Nature provides so much to work with. Indoor pics are cool but not everyday. I feel limited when I´m doing indoor features.

Powerful & emotional. My daughter overheard a discussion I had with my husband over this book and asked the following over dinner, "Are you against people loving each other?" It wasn't the question that made us smile. It was the fact that our child didn't refer to the people as gay. She referred to them as people loving each other. My work as a parent on that department? ✔💪🤜🤛💕 Our mission to raise open minded munchkins is working. 😉 I still answered her, if not a little too proud, "Nope. I have nothing against people loving each other, babe. The story I was telling your dad about was just about people NOT approving of love and destroying that love." ⭐BOOK BOX FEATURE⭐ I highly recommend The Silver Cage by Anonymous. Despite the warnings I think this is something people should grab and settle down with. A book worth reading. A book that'll set all kinds of emotions off. I really think there should be more books like this out there. ⭐REVIEW available! Please Follow the link in the bio and check out my thoughts on the book. I hope you all enjoy your Monday! 3. Close Up. A super SUPER close up of a bookish item. When you don´t have a book at your disposal then you dig out your swag.

4. Flowers. Another indoor feature. Since it´s freezing cold outside and nothing is blooming I´m stuck with working with fake flowers. Not all too terrible. I quite like the flowers after using 6 filters.

HAPPY FRIDAY!! I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that it's Friday. I could and would do cartwheels and dance the twist but I'm afraid I'll break my hips so I'll just sit on the sofa until it's time to get back up… on Monday. 😂😂 Why don't we start the weekend with a BEAUTIFUL book cover? Oh yeah, baby… this is something purdy💓💕💗 Sadly enough- I lack the energy to do a full blown #bookfeature. So, a super quick #shoutout to all romance readers who haven't read 'Prelude' by @audendarauthor yet. 📖📣 Read this. I really think you might enjoy it 😉💕 Now, if you'll excuse me- this spring chicken is going to play dying fish until Monday. Share the 📖💗! And have a wonderful weekend! 5. Me. Yes. It´s happened. I crossed the book promotion line and posted a pic of myself. It´s book related. Anything book related goes, right?

Anyone following Morgana´s Book Box on Instagram will be seeing more than just book box pictures. It´s time for creativity to take over!

My Social Media – Like & Follow

And so it begins…. My social media is not really anything special but it´s a necessity. Not even I can get around my social media. As with authors- Bloggers can´t avoid social media, even if we try. Life without my social media just doesn´t flow as smooth as it should.

Why am I telling you all this? I´ll get to the point in a second….

The job of a book blogger comes close to one of an author´s. We both write and we´re both trying to “sell” a product. With an author it´s all about writing a great story and putting it out on the market for people to read. A book blogger doesn´t really do much differently. We write posts / articles / nonsense ( depending on the content ) and we want to share our published work with the world. Book bloggers “sell” their opinions on books and book related topics. Both need readers. Both depend on readers. Both can´t really survive without readers.

As with books and authors, book bloggers are a matter of taste. You purchase what you find interesting and you follow what you like. It´s as simple as that.

BUT….

Book bloggers depend a little more on social media. Besides the personal blog ( where a blogger keeps everything well-organized and safe) there are other places many readers/followers like to hang out, or hang out instead.

We´ve got the Facebook people, the Tweeters, Instagrammers, Pin-ners, etc. These people like to stick to their neck of the woods and that´s perfectly okay.

Personally, I see my Morgana´s Book Blox like this:

pyramin

This is a simplified visual from my point of view on how book blogging works for me.

  • The Blog is the home of my book universe. The place where everything happens. I´m my own boss. I´m the creator and I swing the Power Sword there. My WordPress blog for people who want the details instead of having to read short key points.
  • Social Media ( Facebook & Co.) is not less important than a blog. In fact- Social medias are blogs only in a different format. Personally, I treat social media platforms as the cool aunts of book blogging. They´re apart of the family. You hear from them on occasion and when you see each other you get excited and start feeling all kinds of love. And although you know no one can reach the level of awesomeness your aunt has- you still know there´s no place like home ( your personal blog).
  • Social Gatherings ( Book Signings, Book Events, Book Conventions) are by far the equivalent to Grandma´s new boyfriend. You´re not sure about the new partner. You´re questioning Granny´s sanity but when the time comes you come to accept Granny´s choice and even start liking the new guy. Same with book events. Most book people are introverts. They´re shy. Unless there´s some special author appearing at an event you´ll hardly get a reader to those over-stuffed gatherings. Of course, there are those who unfold completely at book events, like a butterfly spreading it´s wings, but those folks aren´t in the majority.

Back to the point: Social media is, next to the blog, where all the magic for us book bloggers, happens.

It´s all about sharing the book love, book news, latest book findings. If a reader hangs around social media then it´s wise for a book blogger to do the same.

Book bloggers have so much to offer besides reviews. We share our thoughts and sometimes our secrets. We pour our hearts out after we´ve read a phenominal book. We give the ugly and the pretty sides of our world and share everything through our blog and social media.

If you´re a fan of a blog or a blog that has social media then make sure you follow and like. Never forget to comment and interact. Socializing is important for us book bloggers. We´re here to make the lives of book people easier.

I used to believe that pointing out the obvious was rude. Not anymore. Not in 2018. Support is needed everywhere! Be a book blog follower. Be a facebook page liker. Follow a book activist on Twitter. Comment and like reviews on Goodreads. No matter what you do- do it and support the mother blog and it´s cool aunts!

Speaking of- Be sure to follow me on my own social media platforms ( if you haven´t already). Just pop in and give a few clicks and maybe even a hello.

New Book Box Instagram Features

Instagram- Oh, how I love you!

It´s been almost a year and I can say, without a doubt, that my Instagram project is the best thing that could have happened to me. I´ve met so many great people and have seen so many wonderful book recommendations….. It´s overwhelming in the best way possible! I´ve also learned that not everything has to be about promoting books. It´s also about capturing moments and making memories. I might have used my children once or twice, LOL…. but that, too, was worth it. Before I go all emotional on you guys…. let me show my latest Instagram creations…. Ready? I hope you enjoy. xoxo

Happt Thursday!!! Only one more day and I can do my official dance around the coffee table and celebrate the weekend again! 🤓😉😄 My lazy days will be well spent with reading and decorating the house for Halloween!🎃🕷🕸🦇 Which will be fun because people in my town don't really celebrate Halloween. Fall pic 2017.

She's weird, she's quirky, she's my baby. 💜 Caught her smelling my books… again. Life is never boring with that child💜💜 . I saw a post from my fellow ghettostagrammer @fetteredmatriarch and I was so touched by her personal #5piecesofselflove list. Kacy did amazing and I love her for being so brave to self- love.💗💗 . There's a fine line between self love and arrogance but Kacy nailed it. Self love is important for everyone. So, here are my #5piecesofselflove . . 💜 I love that I'm organized. Many have said that I have an OCD but in reality I just enjoy being organized. Makes my life easier. 💜I love my own food. Yupp. I'm a fab cook and can make a mean meal from scratch😉 💜I love that I'm a giver. Whether it's food or clothes or a helping hand… I give and it makes me feel good. 💜I love my "live and let live" mind-set. Having that makes room for the important things that really matter in life. 💜 I love that I'm fierce. I don't shy away from people or problems. I confront them with full force ASAP. Otherwise, I'll get more wrinkles than I already have. So, that's me. A short version of who I am. I wasn't always like this. It took time and alot of learning from mistakes but I got to the point where I truly love myself. I am the person I hope my girls look up to. I am the person I wish my girls will one day become. Because there is nothing in this world that should ever make them feel anything less than they are: kind, caring, curious, smart and full of love. Thank you @fetteredmatriarch for the post and tag😙😙 Should anyone want to add their own 2 cents or would like to participate then feel free to tag me so I can read all your beautiful self love posts 💗💗💗💗 @woodiesreads . . . . . #books #bookblog #booktag #selflove #girls #mybaby #booksmell #weirdkid #bibliophile #bookworld #bookaddict #bookstagram #booknerd #paperback #germany #bookphotography #booksandkids #instabook #instaread #inspriation #lifegoals #bookworm #bookpic #blackandwhite

This pic has made my top 10 list of fav´s.

"Get busy living, or get busy dying". 🖤 One of my fav quotes by Stephen King. Those words were an eye opener 👀 during a time in my life where I felt the pressure of trying to be the perfect mother, perfect wife and perfect everything else. I've heard those words so often in my life but when I truly HEARD them I realized I didn't want to be perfect. I didn't need to be. I like to think that that was the moment I began to live.🖤 Do you have a quote that changed your life, opened your eyes or made any other impact on you? 🖤🖤 . . . . . #wordporn #quotes #words #meaning #lifechanging #openyoureyes #bookstagram #books #paperbacks #bookish #baskets #bookphotography #bookpic #lit #read #igreads #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #igbooks #bibliophile #instalike #instapic #stephenking #notsoperfect #bookrelated #ihavelivedathousandlives #bookworm #bookninja #bookishgirl #question

Don´t ask. I had a hard time getting those baskets into place. The rest is just exhausting but it was worth the effort.

⭐PARENT FAIL⭐BOOK AWESOMENESS⭐ 😂🙈My oldest daughter ( 10 yrs ) got caught reading her book during class today. I asked her why she wasn't paying attention in school (as she should have) and her answer was; "Mom, you told me you read so you can escape real life without having to go anywhere. That's what I told my teacher. I wanted to escape Math class without having to leave." 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 These are the moments I don't know if I should give her a high five or not. #books #booksandchildren #bookishgirl #girl #imintrouble #lordhelpme #awesome #proudmommymoment #read #bookish #thethingskidssay #mommysfootsteps #instapic #bookstagram #parentfail #bookstagram #bookblog #bookblogger #bloggerlove #blog #smartass #truth #school #📚 #bookworm #book #instalike #instablogger #germany

Book Spotlight- Slammed, Point Of Retreat, This Girl by Colleen Hoover

Slammed ( Slammed #1 )

Book Descriptionslammed

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she’s losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

My Thoughts

Are you searching for something emotional? Would you like to read something that will touch your soul and break your heart and at the same time fix all your problems? Search no more. You´ve found what you´re looking for.

CAUTION: This review contains FOUL LANGUAGE. If you don´t approve of certain words I suggest you skip this review because, quite frankly, I have no other way to express my feelings towards this book.

What started out innocent turned into a „For fuck´s sake, why am I crying AGAIN!“ story. 354 pages of „I will never be able to emotionally recover.“. What on earth possessed this author to write such a gut wrenching, sob – worthy, fantastic story? Because- `Slammed` is exactly that. And it´s brilliant.

After the death of her father, Layken moves from Texas to Michigan with her mother and younger brother, leaving the only life she has known behind to start new.

Layken doesn´t like the change but is absolutely happy for her brother when he bonds with the neighbor´s kid, who also happens to have a hot, older brother. Will. Their new life doesn´t seem so gloomy after all. He introduces his passion, slam poetry, to Layken and soon enough, both hit it off and together they develop a relationship like no other.

Now, before I give away anything else, please know that this story is not what you think it is. It´s so much more. And if I´m honest, I have no fucking clue how I got through this read without breaking into a thousand pieces. My gray sofa was covered in a blanket of white crumbled tissues.

The main focus is at first on Layken and how she deals with the loss of her father, how she adjusts to her new life but also how she handles the quick happiness she´s found with Will. Their relationship has a twist but that´s nothing compared to what happens later in the story.

Sure, there´s romance, there´s wit, there´s cute moments where you wish you were that age again just to relive the intensity of a first love…. and the hope that that love stays your only love for the rest of your life. But life is about more than just love. It´s about what´s happening around you, too.

`Slammed` is moving, touching and, at times, so fucking unforgiving.. I didn´t know what to do with myself while reading. What these characters went through was beyond anything I would wish for anyone. The hurt, the loss, the love and the devastation ripped my heart in two. My tears wouldn´t stop flowing! God damn it. I haven´t felt this emotionally confused since `Hopeless` which is also from Colleen Hoover. ( I´m seeing a pattern here.) There were happy tears, sad tears, tears from relief, tears of sorrow… * head against table* And smiles. God, I was confused while reading `Slammed`. I´m not going to dive into the poetry from the characters because that´s just brutally raw. Fuck.

A story about young love, acceptance, forgiveness and above all, about life. `Slammed` is beautiful in the simplest way ever.

Would I recommend this book?

Fuck yeah. I recommend `Slammed` to everyone. READ THIS BOOK. Like- NOW.

The Cover – 5 stars ( It´s simple. It´s in color. It doesn´t really give away the story.)

The Story – 5+ stars ( For the love of God….. what a wonderful, heartbreaking / heartwarming and captivating story. )

The Characters – 5 stars ( Will made my Top 5 Book Boyfriend List. Layken- I want to give her a hug and never let her go. Sub- characters were fantastic. Very realistic. All loveable.)

My emotional state after finishing this read – Positively exhausted. Emotionally drained. I feel like everytime I think about this book I need a shot of something strong. I LOVE SLAMMED!!

I´m giving `Slammed` ( Slammed #1 ), by Colleen Hoover, 5 out of 5 brilliant stars.

`Slammed`( Slammed #1 ) is available in paperback and ebook format on Amazon.com

Point Of Retreat ( Slammed #2 )

Book Descriptionpoint-of-retreat

From the bestselling author of Slammed, comes Colleen Hoover’s next big hit.
Layken and Will have managed to overcome the obstacles that threatened to destroy their love, proving that they are destined for one another. What they are about to learn, however, is that the things that have brought them together may be the very things that ruin their connection forever…
Layken is left second-guessing the relationship whilst Will is jumping over hurdles to prove his love for her. What the young lovers discover about themselves along this journey may change their entire world and the lives of those who depend upon them the most…

My Thoughts

I´m, for once, thankful for a Colleen Hoover book that hasn´t brought me to tears.

Will and Lake´s story continues. `Point Of Retreat` ( Slammed #2 ) wasn´t as heartshattering as book #1, `Slammed` but it was just as intense (!!!). Right to the point where I was afraid for the MC´s relationship. Because, this couple is meant to be together. My emotions were all over the place.

After the events from `Slammed`, Will and Layken now have to learn how to deal with everyday life. With both being relatively young they decide to take over the parental roles and raise their siblings, which proves to be a challenge for the 19 and 23 year olds.

New problems surface, making Lake question her relationship. Life isn´t a box of chocolates for Layken but with the help of Will and a few friends life doesn´t seem so worthless. Or does it?

To make this short and simple ( since I´ve already gushed my feelings over the first book more than enough ) I loved this book. A perfect follow-up story that gives a reader the satisfaction of knowing what happens next.

`Point Of Retreat`is told from Will´s perspective, which I found was brilliant because I was dying to know how he saw Layken and the situation they were in. His character couldn´t be more opposite from Layken´s… Will was, less difficult.

Lake/Layken often acted like a little shit over peanuts but that can be blamed on the many issues she´s had to deal with within a short time span. Her life wasn´t easy and anyone in real life would have needed quite a few therapy sessions to get over what Layken dealt with. So, despite my love and understanding for her character I still felt a tad annoyed by her behavior.

All in all a really great read that tugged at all my heartstrings. I felt `Point Of Retreat`. I felt the heartache, the sadness, the happy moments, the intimacy, the power of Colleen Hoover´s writing.

Would I recommend this book?

Definitely. After you read `Slammed` a reader will most definitely want more and this book gives more. Also, this book shows how two young people manage life under difficult circumstances. I know alot of 30+ adults who haven´t a clue how to start managing anything for themselves. This could be an eye opener and if not then this book is definitely entertaining.

The Cover – 5 stars ( What´s more to say other than I really like it?)

The Story – 5 stars ( Perfect follow-up story that includes more beautiful poetry and meaning.)

The Characters – 4 stars ( Will was perfect. If Layken was a little less dramatic then I would have loved her just as much. And Julia. Oh. My. God. I want a Julia in my life. )

My emotional state after finishing this read – In love.

I´m giving `Point Of Retreat` ( Slammed #2 ), by Colleen Hoover, 5 out of 5 stars

You can purchase `Point Of Retreat`( Slammed #2 ) on Amazon.com

This Girl ( Slammed #3 )

Book Description  this-girl

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

My Thoughts

`This Girl`. This book. THIS SERIES!

Be still, my beating heart… for this is the end of a phenomenal story. Or is it? I´m not sure. It sure looks like it´s the end and feels like it, too.

Either way- I´m bummed. So many feelings felt, so many tears shed and now I have to deal with the harsh reality of a life without Will & Layken.

I know, I know. All good things must come to an end at some point- especially when it comes to stories- but I´m not ready for this one to end.

When I saw the cover and tagline about the title my heart stopped.

Love conquers everything, but can it excuse the past?

I was terrified. There´s only so much fictional characters can go through without wanting to kill themselves or ending up in a nuthouse. My only option was to breathe and hope for the best. Right? It´s not like I have many useful feelings left for the author to play with. Colleen Hoover pretty much exhausted me ( in a good way, of course).

`This Girl` (Slammed #3 ) by Colleen Hoover is the honeymoon book. Here, a reader gets a story rehash in form of the MC having a stroll down memory lane while being on their honeymoon.

Again- If you believe I just revealed the whole story then you´re wrong. Aside from the flashbacks there are a few additional scenes and a total heartwarming epilogue, all told from Will´s POV. This is pretty awesome. * frantically nod *

While having their much deserved break from life, Will and Layken use the time to get deep and talk about… stuff. Things that are usually spoken about in private when couples reflect on their relationship and when they want to look forward. Brilliant!

`This Girl` is raw and real.

`This Girl` is a captivating story.

`This Girl` is a perfect.

A pretty swift and beautiful ending for a story that has milked my emotional household dry.

`This Girl` is a mandatory read for fans of the `Slammed` series. The whole series is a must read for everyone who isn´t familiar with the author or her books.

Now, let´s get back to the painful tagline from the book cover. I can answer that one easily.

YES! Love CAN excuse the past!! Now stop trying to play with the little feelings I have left, Mrs. Evil Author.

Would I recommend this book?

Yes. I would. I wouldn´t necessarily read `This Girl` before `Slammed` and `Point Of Retreat`, though.

The Cover – 5 stars ( It´s simple and the title doesn´t give anything away. Perfect.)

The Story – 4 stars ( It´s half a re-telling of book #1 and #2 with great additional scenes. )

The Characters – 5 stars ( Oh yeah. These figures won´t ever leave my heart.)

My emotional state after finishing this book– So grateful and utterly happy.

I´m giving `This Girl` ( Slammed #3 ), by Colleen Hoover 5 out of 5 stars.

This book can be bought over at Amazon.com

Thank you for reading today´s Book Spotlight. I hope you enjoyed. Much love….xx

Book Spotlight Feature- Colleen Hoover

What Do I Think?

Each day, starting today until Saturday, I´ll be presenting either complete series or standalones and will include my thoughts in form of reviews. Also- I will be including Instagram Book Spotlight Features of Colleen Hoovers books along with each published review.

My reviews can also be found on Amazon.com, on my  Facebook page and on Twitter . Reviews will not be included on Instagram but you´re still very welcome to visit my book box features anytime you feel the need to.

Thank you and I truly hope you enjoy!
